In a worker-owned cooperative, workers share ownership of the business and govern the business democratically. Worker-owned cooperatives are the most common type of employee ownership around the world. These values-driven businesses have worker and community benefit at their foundation. Cooperatives operate according to the same set of core values – the Seven Cooperative Principles – adopted by the International Co-operative Alliance.
